Arnold is located in Stanislaus National Forest. Parks located in the area include White Pines Park and Calaveras Big Trees State Park.[9] The Arnold Rim Trail, which was created in 2007, is a 17.5 mile multi-use trail that traverses protected land from Arnold to Avery.[10]

Arnold and the surrounding area offers a wide range of outdoor activities year-round, including fishing, hiking, bicycling, off-roading, golf, and more. It is home to boutique shops, fine resturants, and historic lodging. It is also home to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, the place giant sequoia trees were first discovered in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
